A long hard road, but I'm almost done.

So after almost a year of talking about writing an application for the iPhone, I have finally finished an application for the iPhone. It’s not going to set the world on fire, maybe thats good - who needs a burning world, but I am mostly happy with the state of it. When I started this, I didn’t know Objective C, I didn’t know Cocoa, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into, but I did like the idea of creating useful software for a new platform.

I am a long time computer professional - I have been a software developer in mostly the “IT” or business world. Mostly, I have been consumer of those desktop applications, and a developer of big enterprise. The past several years I have worked as a Database Administrator Consultant for some major organizations. All of that has been fun, but now I am excited for the first time in years to be working on something that’s just plain fun.

So the first application is called “Amidrunk”, and its a very simple Blood Alcohol Content calculator.

I’ll post more details when it goes live on the store. I am going to make a screencast of it’s short feature list, and how to use it.
